The Civic Engagement Committee works to increase participation of African Americans in the democratic process through the elimination of barriers that impede their full civic engagement.
Among its many functions, the Civic Engagement Committee:
Seeks to increase registration and voting;
Works for the enactment of municipal, state and federal legislation designed to improve the educational, political and economic status of people of color;
Seeks the repeal of racially discriminatory legislation;
Monitors all proposed legislation that affect people of color
The Committee is nonpartisan and does not endorse candidates for public office.
