Spartanburg, SC June, 8th 2015- The Spartanburg NAACP thanks the Spartanburg City Council for requring money be set aside for police body cameras. City Council has asked city staff to provide a budget that includes money to buy body cameras for all first responder police officer (85 officers). This money will be released if state funds are not appropriated to pay for municipal police body cameras.
We thank Robert Reader and most of all June White for their leadership on this issue.

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-1-240, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ALL STATE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH BODY-WORN CAMERAS.
